Brezy is built to be calm and quiet - including with your data. The app is local-first: by default nothing you do in it ever leaves your Mac. This policy explains the few places data is involved, and why.
The app
The Brezy macOS app runs entirely on your computer. Your scenes, settings, unlock status, and trial timer are stored locally in standard macOS preferences. There is no account to create.
Purchases
Brezy is distributed through the Mac App Store, and the one-time Full Unlock is an in-app purchase processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details, name, email, or Apple ID - Apple simply tells the app whether the unlock has been purchased. Opt-in live weather
The one exception is the optional “Match live weather” feature, which is off until you turn it on. When enabled, the app:
- Asks macOS for your device location, shown to you in the standard system permission prompt - you can allow or deny it. If you deny it, the app falls back to an approximate location derived from your IP address (roughly your city - never precise GPS);
- Sends those coordinates to the Open-Meteo forecast API to fetch your local conditions, so the scene can match your real sky. Brezy re-checks about once an hour while the feature is on.
No account, login, or personal identifier is sent with these requests, and Brezy does not store a history of your location or weather. Turning the feature off stops all such requests. Please also see Open-Meteo's own terms for how that service handles requests.
Legacy website purchases
Before Brezy moved to the Mac App Store, lifetime licenses were sold on this website. If you bought one, this is what we hold and why:
- Your email address - your license key is derived from your email, and we use the address to deliver (or re-send) the key.
- A basic license record (your email and the associated order) kept for bookkeeping, support, and tax/accounting purposes.
Payments for those orders were processed by Stripe - your card details went directly to Stripe and were never seen or stored by us (see Stripe's privacy policy). Key-delivery emails are sent via Resend and are purely transactional - we don't add you to any list. Legacy copies of the app contact our server once when you register a key (to verify it) and, on trial installs, to anchor the trial start date; App Store copies do none of this.
No tracking
We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not set analytics or ad cookies on this site. We don't sell or rent your information to anyone.
Data deletion
You can ask us to delete your stored purchase data at any time. Email support@brezy.app from (or referencing) your purchase email and we'll remove your license record. Note that records Stripe is legally required to retain for accounting are subject to their retention rules, and that deleting your record does not revoke a key that has already been issued.
